The REC Experimental Video Contest was launched in September 2020 with the main aim to give young people a space to share their thoughts, feelings and reflections about violence through video-making. A specific section of this website is dedicated to this contest, don’t miss to visit it, click here!

The winner of the contest is Giorgio Lombardelli, writer and director of the surrealistic short film “5”, which, as Giorgio says «shows the last five minutes of life in a suicide’s head. The boy in question is a painter who remembers all the negative things in his life.»

Experience violence can lead to many negative consequences, from minor bruises to physical disability, from disturbing feelings to serious mental health issues or even suicidal thoughts. Given the seriousness of the possible consequences, it is important to focus on both prevention and victims’ support, in order to protect and recover young people’s physical, mental and social well-being.

The video was chosen as the best one because, while dealing with such a complex topic, it fosters reflection on the consequences of violence and it leave us with a simple but true consideration, which we don’t want to spoil. Watch the video and you will understand what we are talking about.
